This lovely 42"w x 33”h mid-19th Century Romantic landscape oil on canvas painting is dated 1853, comes from the British Isles and is likely a view in the Scottish highlands, with an exquisitely coved, gilt frame. It is by the versatile Scottish landscape, marine, portrait, and animal painter James Cassie (1819-1879). He was a Member of the Scottish Royal Academy of Art and was active from the 1840s until his death in 1879. He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, the in London at the Royal Academy during his career.
